Privacy Policy

Updated October 24, 2026

This policy explains what information Junebytes Software (“Junebytes”, “we”) collects through junebytes.com and our Mac apps TotalXDR and DropNotch, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We don’t sell your personal information.

The short version

  • What you do in our apps — your files, shelf items, clipboard history, display settings and the text you select — stays on your Mac. We never receive it.
  • To check licenses and trials, the apps send basic information about your Mac to our server.
  • When you buy, Stripe handles your payment. We receive your name, email, country and order details, never your card number.
  • Our website uses Google Analytics to understand how it is used.

Information our apps send

TotalXDR and DropNotch, including the free version of DropNotch, check in with our server at junebytes.com from time to time. Each check sends basic information about your Mac and the app — such as a device identifier, your Mac’s model, macOS version and region, the app version and your trial or license status — and your license key once you have activated one.

We use this only to activate and verify licenses and trials, prevent misuse of license keys, show your activated Macs in the License Manager, and decide which Macs and macOS versions to support.

After activation, your license is stored on your Mac as a signed file, so the app keeps working when you are offline. Activating a license needs an internet connection.

Updates

The apps check junebytes.com for updates using the Sparkle framework and download new versions from our website. Update checks don’t include a profile of your Mac.

AI actions in DropNotch

DropNotch Pro can send text, images or PDFs you choose to an AI service you set up with your own API key, such as Anthropic, OpenAI, Google Gemini, OpenRouter or a model running on your own Mac. The content goes directly from your Mac to that service and never passes through us. Your keys are stored in your Mac’s keychain. The service you choose processes the content under its own terms and privacy policy.

Other DropNotch features that use the internet do so only when you ask: dragging an image from a web page downloads it, and the Web Search action opens your browser. Text recognition and background removal run on your Mac.

Permissions on your Mac

DropNotch may ask for Accessibility access (to paste from clipboard history and hide menu bar icons), Bluetooth (to show a device’s battery in the notch) and permission to control Finder (to empty the Trash). These are used on your Mac only for the features they’re requested for.

Purchases and your account

Payments are processed by Stripe. When you check out, we receive your email address, name, country, the amount paid and Stripe’s record of the transaction, which may include billing details you gave Stripe. Your card details are handled by Stripe and never reach our servers.

We keep your order, licenses, gift codes and activated Macs so you can manage them in the License Manager. We send license emails, sign-in links and gift code emails through our email provider, Resend.

Emails from us

When you buy, redeem a gift code or sign up on our website, your email address is added to our mailing list for news about our apps, updates and offers. You can unsubscribe at any time by emailing us. Emails about your purchases and licenses are sent regardless, because they are part of the service.

Our website

junebytes.com uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages and downloads are popular. Google Analytics collects information such as the pages you view, your browser and device, and your approximate location, and uses cookies to do so. We also send Google Analytics events when you download an app or start and complete a checkout; the checkout event currently includes your email address and license key, and page addresses we record may include your email address when you open a License Manager link. You can block Google Analytics with a content blocker or Google’s opt-out browser add-on.

Cookies and local storage

  • jb-locale — remembers the language you chose on our website, for one year.
  • Theme — remembers whether you picked the light or dark look, stored in your browser.
  • Order details — your email and order number are kept in your browser during checkout so we can show them on the confirmation page.
  • Google Analytics cookies — set by Google as described above.

Who we share information with

We share information only with service providers that help us run our business: Stripe for payments, Resend for email, Google for website analytics, and the companies that host our website and database. They process it on our behalf, and some of them are located outside your country. We may also disclose information when required by law.

How long we keep information

We keep order and license records for as long as your licenses exist and as long as we need them for accounting and legal purposes. Device records stay with your license until you deactivate the Mac or ask us to delete them.

Your choices

  • Deactivate a Mac at any time in the License Manager.
  • Ask us for a copy of your information, or to correct or delete it, by emailing us. We may need to keep some records, such as invoices, where the law requires it.
  • Unsubscribe from marketing emails by emailing us.

Children

Our apps and website are not directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information.

Security

We use reasonable measures to protect your information, such as encrypted connections and signed license files. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will post the new version on this page and update the date at the top. If the changes are significant, we will let you know in the apps or by email.

If you have any questions about this policy or your information, email us. A real person reads every message.
